HISTORY

Dr. Dino Mulić joined the faculty of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the Fall of 2017. This fast-growing, South Texas University supports a thriving music program, which contributes to the diverse and vibrant arts culture of the city. Dr. Mulić imagined a piano festival, and Corpus Christi was an ideal place for hosting such a festival. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi immediately and proudly backed the idea because of the unmistakable recognition for the school and its recruitment promotion, as well as the enriching benefit such a festival would bring to the community. The Corpus Christi Music Teachers Association, a group of enthusiastic, local musict eachers, endorsed the festival idea because it offered exceptional opportunities for their students, including the opportunity to perform in the city’s most beautiful concert hall. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Music Teachers Association became strong partners advocating for the creation of educational and performance opportunities for all. Combined with support from students and parents, local music store owners, and piano enthusiasts, Piano Celebration Week was established, bringing professionals and amateurs together in a new and exciting way.
